thankyou so much for putting on a marvellous event!!!!

i ran the twilight, and was unhappy about a few things, and i put forth my constructive criticism... but this brisbane event was so well organised, and there was heaps of water stations too. i really enjoyed the course, so many scenic areas around the city to enjoy.

i ran the marathon with a friend, and we both were in agreement when running that this a very well organised event. people at the water stations were fantastic and provided alot of encouragement and support, especially the girls in the toga's!

such a nice feeling when strangers clap for you, and provide encouragement for you to keep going, and i think the course design allowed that to happen, so that was fantastic.

all in all guys and gals, a big 10 out 10.

thankyou!!!!

I would like to second the praise for the overall event (and the toga girls!). The only real let down for me was the lack of a finishers T-shirt even close to my size when I crossed the line at around 4:45.

Normally I don't care for regular finishers shirts, but this was to be a great quality running shirt, and a great memento of my first ever marathon. I am particularly disappointed because you actually sent out an email requesting sizes and this was even listed on the back of the number bibs, so if there was originally the correct numbers, a quick check of the bibs would have meant people getting their requested size.

The finishers shirt was even one of the big advertising points you were using to encourage people to enter, it is such a shame to finish a great event on a sour note.

Keep up the good work on the rest of the marathon planning, and please take this into consideration for future events.

I did the 10km and it was brilliant! Had a great time and a good giggle at the water stations.

The cap that we got for finishing is really good, fits well and I will be wearing it at the B2B next Sunday. Great stuff!  I am looking forward to next year hoping I will right for a longer distance...........Approve

Thanks Everyone,

Im so sorry about the shirts- we thought we had this nailed this year- and have gone fairly close But I understand there were a few people who didnt get what they ordered. I can only apologise for this. We did have a system in place but unfortunately the shirts ended up being a  bit of a small cut and I think a few people who finished  earlier to discover the ordered size  was a bit small might have taken the wrong size even though they were not supposed  to. The girls on the tent from careflight  and Lovely Deb- were very good at policing this- but it doesnt take much to get out  by just a bit- and unfortunately this ends up effecting the later runners. It didnt help that this year our male/ female ratio was was out- so many more men than women which present problems too.
Anyway Im really sorry.
Linda
Its just an ordinary garden shed. I was briefly thinking of getting another and since then a few friends have called me "two sheds"

Linda,

I cant give you enough praise for this event, it was fantastic and worth all of your hard work and stress.

I ran pretty good today and set a new PB, this is also due to your hard work at the training sessions and for that you have my gratitude. I'm only one of many people who owe their running achievements and level of fitness to you and your continued commitment to the premature alarm clock. Well done, great job. Thanks.

Thanks to the marshals, drink servers and pacers for today too. I stayed on the heals of Mr 1:45 for most of the way and he did a great job of dragging me and a few others along.

More praise for the event. I ran the marathon and found the whole event very well organised. Particular praise must go to the marshals (for a late finisher like me they were still chearing), the drink stations (great support from all, well done to the girls in the togas, liked the Carbo Shots and Endure being available), bag storage worked well and the volunteers in the recovery area.

I improved on my GC time with 4hrs 37min, a time to work on for next year.

Really enjoyed the whole event, well done again.

Thanks,

Jack

My half marathon training fell apart with a recent trip to NZ and a nasty chest infection as a result, so my 10km on Sunday was a bit of a 'bridesmaid' event - but not participating in some way was not an option. And with the pressure of the Half removed, I had fun. And a semi-respectable 62:36 for the 10, given it was 21+ degrees at the start and I'd been up since 3.30am.Confused

But the best fun was helping out - I did my stint from 5am on the registration table and then toddled off in time to run the 10 - all very civilised. The water stations at every 2 km were a blessing and the number of marshalls meant you didnt have to think about the course, just keeping putting your feet down. I was at the 5km mark before I knew it. Clap

I love the very useful hat, as I dont have room in the drawers for anymore tees. But they were xlnt quality and I was tempted. But I agree, the cut was small so that could be where the numbers available started to have trouble. Obviously I am meant to run next year and EARN my clothing LOL

It's back to Training on Tues morning, and finding another set of goals, and planning for 2010 marathons.  Thank you Linda for what has been a wonderful experience over all - I'm addicted now!Star

Cheers

It was a fantastic event.  Congratulations and thanks to all the organisers for all work they put in to see this event happen. Also a big thanks, to all the volunteers, who assisted in running this event, you made running the event so much easier and more enjoyable.

I'm wrapped with my 4:15 for my first marathon.

Well done and thanks.

Cheers
Andrew

Congradulations on running such a great event, being my first marathon I don't have alot to compare it to but I thought it was done really well.

The guys and girls on the drink stations were fantastic particularly the girls down at West End and the girls in the Togas there energy and enthusiasm was infectious and I definately needed some of that energy by the second lap. Only suggestion would be that I could have done with another water station at the turnaround at the Story Bridge particularly given the heat.

Thank you also to the marshals who stood out there in the sun and did such a fantastic job, it was great to see friendly faces and get a bit of encouragement.

I really enjoyed my first marathon, I am a little bit disappointed with my time (4.45) I struggled alot in the heat on the second lap after going through 21km in 1.59 but I made it YEAH! and it is definately going to be the first of many. Thanks to Andrew who has been my training partner this year it has been great to have some company on the long training runs. Thanks also to Linda for all her coaching, it has been amazing to go from someone who didn't run to having completed 3 half marathons and 1 marathon in 6 months I can't wait to see what I can do next year with a bit more running under my belt.

Finally thank you to everyone who has trained with the marathon school this year it has been great meeting so many people so passionate/crazy about running you have all made training alot of fun.

I just want to say WELLDONE to all at Intraining that were involved in putting togather the marathon event on sunday.
I did the half and recorded a PB of 1:48 All went well till the last 4k when i started to run out of steam. Hopefully next year i'll get that 1:45 i wanted this year. The course was great except there were a few to many hills for my liking Ermm .

Agree with all the postings....a really fun and well organised event. Great to see so many people participating and volunteering. I couldn't believe how smoothly everything ran - a credit to all involved.

I did the half in just over 2hrs (went 40 seconds over) and was very happy with that. It was HOT in some sections of the run - really felt for the marathoners - but all the drink stations made it quite comfortable for us all. The toga girls were great (I though I was hallucinating!) and all those people wishing us well.....that last 100 metres was a LONG way but what a finish!

It was inspiring seeing everyone achieving - even overachieving goals; such as the first time marathoners. A year ago I couldn't run for the bus - now I can run 21 km!
My theory..which is mine..

Linda,
I hope my post regarding the shirts wasn't too negative. The event was really good, and I have a lot of praise for you and all of the organisers and voulnteers. It is a mammoth task to try and piece together all the bits that make an event like this so successful, and it really was a success. I would have no hesitation in recommending the event to anyone contemplating a marathon (or 1/2, 10k etc).
My only suggestion for improvement would be to check bibs when handing out finishers shirts, strictly enforcing the size requested, and a quantity of just one.
Anyway, have a bit of a breather guys, and pat yourselves on the back for a job well done.

Well, for my first Marathon at 3hrs 27min I couldn't be happier!

I'd completed a couple of Halfs prior to this and I was blown away by how good the Brisbane Marathon was compared to the others. The race was superbly run and had such a warm encouraging atmosphere (unlike some of the bigger events I've been to). My hats off to organisers, and a special thanks to the drinks people. You were what got me through. With all your encouragement how could I not complete a PB!?!

I loved the fact we looped around twice (so that you saw some familiar faces as you race) and the scenic back drop out-shone even the Gold Coast (in my opinion).

The hat and t-shirt were awesome gifts to receive at the end, and again, put other races to shame in terms of the quality momento they provide. A truly outstanding event. thanks so much to you all!

Congratulations everyone on such a fantastic event.  What a great way to enjoy our river city!

Thank you Linda for putting in such a great effort to make this event enjoyable for the runners.

There was a great buzz in the crowd before the starters gun and the banter along the way just added to the atmosphere - up until the point where I found myself in no-mans land between pacers.  Just makes you realise how nice it is to have someone to share the pain with.

Although I know there was a lot of effort behind the scenes, the race seemed to run (pardon the pun) extremely smoothly.  With the race officials and drink stations on the ball and helping make this a very special and professional event.

The drink stations with Shotz energy drink and gels were great and definitely came in handy on more than one occasion.  Hopefully we'll get to see them at more events like this one.

Thank you Craig for your pacing efforts.  I know how seriously you took this important task.  Your focus was impressive and achieving a time 8 seconds under your allocated pace was simply spot on!

Thank you for all your efforts.

Hi!

A truly enjoyable weekend.  Everyone I met from InTraining, everyone I met at checkin and the expo the day before, and on the day, the volunteers, marshals, medics and police (and the competitors! :) were all fantastic.  From the toga girls at the first drink station that really set the tone for a happy and enthusiastic day, to the little guy with the loud speaker announcing your arrival onto the finish straight, a fantastic day.  To all those involved, a big "Thank you!"

Here's three reasonably major aspects from the day itself that ideally would be improved for next time:
1) As discussed above, the finishers shirt.  A key further point is that nearly forty people finished after Craig, most of them blokes, and if Craig didn't get a shirt then we're not talking about just "a few people" who finished the marathon without getting a marathon finisher's shirt.
2) drink stations running out of cups (such that they had to be shared/reused !?!)
3) finish line, and official timing, closing well before both the last competitor, and half an hour before the police permit for the course ran out (according to: http://www.intraining.com.au/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=497)

Obviously only a relatively small percentage of competitors, and only the marathon competitors out of all the events on the day, were affected by the above, but I think each aspect would have meant a lot to each of the people it did affect.  I'm sure the last 15% of the 10k and 21.1k people could imagine how they would feel if the above happend to them, and Craig had 15% of marathon competitors finishing behind him.

Perhaps there is a possibility of having another run of shirts made?  For "a few people" we might say "gee you were unlucky" and apologise, but if the number of people who missed out is 40 or more (was Craig the first person to go without a shirt or were there more before him who also missed out?) and those people had paid their money and competed in good faith, then perhaps another production run of 40-50 shirts might be an option.

If its the cost that is an issue (we definitely don't want to send the organisers broke - certainly shouldn't be worse off for attempting to make so many people's lives better), perhaps the competitors would be prepared to contribute partial cost - I'd be surprised if many competitors who finished that marathon (and who has already paid $100 entry fee) that missed out on a finishers shirt would say "no I don't want one" if offered a finisher's shirt for say $10-$20 (or even the full price if it came to that, at least give them the option).  I presume you have the list of competitors who finished after Craig, and their email addresses or however their registration was accepted as a means of getting in touch with them, so making such an offer to each of them may be a possibility.

A really enjoyable day, made so by many great people.

Thanks

Choke Down On The Grip

This seems like an obvious mechanic, but choking down on golfwholesale18 reviews the grip actually ishiner does a lot more than simply get your body closer to the ball to make a delicate stroke.
